To state the obvious, notnilC probably wants grunting in tennis because it is so annoying. Oh my GOD it is SO ANNOYING! I’ve been calling this microloosh.
I was taken aback by the clips you put in this video, Matt. Nothing about the tennis was enjoyable, which must be the point.

The grunts and screams have a base, sexual energy; it’s gross and uncivilized, and I hate it. Sportsmanship was once a prized virtue, and one that I still hold dear.
I think the public admiration for the bad guy started gearing up in the early 90s, with movies featuring “antiheroes” (think early Tarantino, Natural Born Killers, Fight Club, Kalifornia, Freeway, etc.). Sadly, I’m partially to blame: I love(d) that kind of movie and saw many in the theater, making me part of the problem. “Nudging” (a la Cass Sunstein) is effective indeed.
Wait until the grunting starts in women’s golf…

I’m at the stage I can’t leave the front door without screaming and grunting. I have a theory that pro sports are choreographed and scripted to produce “characters” the crowd can boo and cheer. Same as leaders and politicians.

Hey Matt, How do you instantly recall what Hagrid said to Harry Potter? Asking for a friend.
JP Morgan and a target of the transpocopoco army is all we need to know about that sporting event. The grunting must be a part of some sort of loosh harvesting.

I hated her (Seles) so much, i remember how irritated I was when she wasn’t stabbed for being overly annoying but for the fact, that it worked so well for her that someone felt the need to stop her from dethroning Steffi. Insane…
