Quantum of Conscience

Send Matt a One Time Tip or Monthly

After Saturday’s YouTube video on the 12 movies that reflect where modern society is headed, people asked me why I didn’t include the Truman Show as one of the 12. This video explains that, and more…

Never mind the horrendous human rights violations casually plastered over by the Truman show.

For me, what I appreciated about Free Guy was the idea of being able to see things that others can’t see. He even offered the glasses to his friend (the security guard at the bank) but the friend wasn’t “ready to see real reality” yet. And that was ok. They could still be friends. I don’t really think of Guy’s character as being an NPC, even though that is what they call him. I like the idea of him being able to “hack the system” and creating a good life for himself, despite the powers that were working against him, and eventually breaking free from it all. I suppose all these movies have nuggets for each individual to take what they need and to leave the rest.

The other aspect that is notable about “Free Guy” is it shows a figure called “an NPC” (Guy) *transcending* the normal limitations of being an NPC. So the fact that the viewer is presented with a so-called NPC, who then goes on to violate every idea about what an NPC should capable of seems philosophically significant somehow…It’s enough to make a person stop and think about “What is this movie trying to hint at in terms of metaphysical truth?”

I’m not particularly interested in the “mall map” diagram or what movies belong on it. However, I was surprised that Matt’s attitude toward the movie Free Guy in general was as dismissive as it was in terms of containing hints about the nature of reality.

I got the impression that Matt’s perspective of reality is fixed as “subset X” and the ideas hinted at in the movie Free Guy fall outside of “subset X” and therefore Matt is dismissing those ideas as not being valid or relevant because they fall outside of his preconceived view that the nature of reality is “subset X.”

For example, Matt says something like, “I’m not an NPC, therefore the movie Free Guy that depicts a literal NPC isn’t telling me about myself…” To me, that seems potentially dismissive of important clues about what is going on in our own reality construct.

From Matt’s perspective he’s not an NPC in this reality. Similarly, at the beginning of the movie, Guy’s perspective is that he is also “real” (and not an NPC). Only after going through the events of the movie does Guy discover that he is an NPC.

For my part, as hard as it is to stomach, I keep on the table that my consciousness is in fact some kind of computer-like program running through pre-written lines of code, creating the illusion of me making choices and moving through a 3D world and experiencing thoughts, feelings and sentience –all of which seems real. Not to say that this is a delightful or warm-and-fuzzy conclusion to reach (as someone who thinks of herself as a “real spiritual being” and who definitely feels pain and emotion and sees all the unsettling anomalies that the “normies” around us don’t see in this world)…

But the script my life has followed, and the bizarre and monumental synchronicities I have experienced suggest that something is VERY, VERY TIGHTLY controlling, driving and timing the events of my life (including my own thoughts) in a manner that makes me think of a computer program…and makes me question if I really have free will…My experiences suggest that not only is this reality artificial, but my interaction with it is also somehow scripted/controlled.

You describe exactly how I experienced the movie as well, it really hit home for me. The computer-like programming of this reality/realm makes sense to me, the 0’s and 1’s (there and not there), the loops and programs we experience, the glitches, the historical resets. To me it feels like ancient and sacred technology. And being able to relate it to a video game is just a modern day frame of reference, a way to describe something using current day terms. I could imagine that these bodies we are currently inhabiting are just avatars “playing this game” within the constraints that this reality offers, and that our true selves could be outside the construct somewhere watching the show. And unlike Super Mario and/or Jumanji (Welcome to the Jungle movie) we don’t get 3 lives, we only get the one, until/unless we come back in a different avatar.

I also have been trying to process the conundrum of free will as well. Are we just supposed to “feel” like we have free will and are making our own choices within the scripted frames of this reality? Or do we actually have the ability to “choose our own adventure” while we are here? Either way, it’s juicy stuff to ponder.

You know how Matt frequently points out how this reality consistently “delivers conflicting evidence to both sides of a research argument at the same time?”

It seems to me like the reality does this on just about every single question or topic – including the topic of free will. Even if you take an absolutely neutral mindset and embark on an earnest investigation as to whether or not we have free will – the reality will deliver evidence on both sides of the argument to you in a paradoxical, self-contradictory fashion, and it will do this infinitely…It is truly absurd.

It’s like the answer to the question “Do we have free will?” Is simultaneously both yes and no, and the reality will generate evidence and clues for both sides, that feeds into an unending dialogue that never reaches a conclusion. It just cascades on and on like one of those ridiculous breadcrumb trails Matt likes to talk about.

When asked for comment about globe vs flat earth, Matt has said that he thinks “this construct” has no inherent shape, it’s both and it’s neither, and it can morph into either one at will, and provide evidence for either shape in an absurd, fluid, supernatural way. I think this dynamic applies to the question of free will (and just about every perplexing question one can think of).

For myself, I see the game reality wants to play with regard to the question of free will. I do see some evidence of my own lack of free will, but I also see reality wanting to play its usual game of “Goldilocks right down the middle…” so that my perceived lack of free will (something we tend to think about in absolute terms) is not in fact absolute, and is only one side of the irreconcilable duality that the reality wants to put forth, juggling both sides from now to infinity like a deranged circus clown riding a unicycle.

I’ve actually distanced myself from this world, nature , seasons, etc. I’m not β€œhating the world” I just have found that I’m venturing inside, because I know that I exist. And I think that’s my β€œway out” I don’t know about this physical tangible stuff.

Who knows if I’m being emotive with a fake put together reality, like Truman show. I know animals, other sentients are real, but that’s all I know.

Does anyone else have this happen? Every time we watch freevoice, when the “copyrighted” material plays we get massive buffering. So the clips of the Truman Show and even the Moon channel buffered a lot. We just chalk it up to notnilc AI BS.

Hey y’all! I just found a residual!! On the movie ” Heathers” ( from 1989i think) they are talking about.. ” if I win the publishing clearing house and that guy Ed brings the big check”! Haha!! I just love to find residuals! Makes my day! Happy Monday everyone!!

I love finding them too. It’s crazy how much residue there is for this particular one too. There is an episode of Friends where Phoebe says to Rachel about how she is like Ed showing up at someone’s door with surprising news, only without the cheque. And then my daughter saw an episode of Raising Hope were it was referenced. So wild.

This weekend in particular has had me really, really, really thinking not only is our entire reality is scripted but that other’s roles in our lives are totally pre-scripted. It’s really tough to even converse with people these days without getting pulled into some funky energy. The ship has sooooo sailed. Thank you so much Matt and Rob!

Hi, Matt! I don’t know if you saw my comment on YT, but I was having difficulty getting into “freevoice.io.” It was sending me to some phone company. Eventually, I got a screen that said the site was not working, but with the normal login. So, I logged in and here I am! I’m catching up on a few videos that I missed. So, I’m going to listen and “binge” them today while I do mindless housework.
Btw, I keep noticing words like “bingeing,” a word with negative connotations — reminds me of Bulemia — now being used for something that’s supposed to be positive, as in the way it’s used now. Another one I don’t like is this ” Dischord,” which I’ve never even seen and have no plans to do so. Does anyone going online over there even know what the word means? Is it meant to sew the seeds of dischord among its denizens?
I see these kinds of reframing of words as very much a Notnilc intention. Words, after all, are powerful spells. The Notnilc waits in ambush for those who are unaware.
Much love and blessings. πŸ€—β€οΈπŸ’–πŸ’œπŸ™
